General

How do I get support?

Open a ticket in the client area. It's the fastest way to reach us. If it's an emergency, mark your ticket as High priority and follow the escalation details.

Where can I check for outages or maintenance?

See our service status page for network and service health.

Can I test the network before ordering?

Yes. Use our looking glass to test the network in each location.

Do you support IPv6?

Yes. Every VPS includes a routed /64 IPv6 block, and dedicated servers and colocation both include a /64 IPv6 allocation.

Do you provide DNS services?

No, we don't provide any DNS services. We recommend ClouDNS or Cloudflare.

What isn't allowed on your services?

TOR exit nodes, spam, email marketing software, scam sites, content that infringes copyright, and pornographic or illegal material. Game servers need our approval first, and are only allowed in some locations, so open a sales ticket to discuss them.

See the acceptable use section of our terms of service for the full list.

How do I report abuse?

Email abuse@ransomit.com.au with logs or other evidence where you can.

Where can I find your terms of service?

Read them on our terms of service page.

Billing

What payment methods do you accept?

You can pay by PayPal, credit card, or direct deposit to our Commonwealth Bank of Australia account.

What currency are your prices in?

Australian services are priced in AUD and include GST. Singapore and Tokyo dedicated servers are priced in USD.

What happens if I pay late?

Late payments result in your service being suspended.

How do I cancel a service?

Lodge a cancellation request in the billing panel. We'll confirm we've received it within 48 hours.

Which email address should I use for my account?

Use an address that doesn't depend on anything you host with us. If your server or its mail goes down, you still need to receive our notifications about it.

VPS

Can I change plans?

Yes. Upgrade or downgrade your VPS yourself in the client area. KVM disk sizes can't be reduced, but every other resource can go up or down.

What happens when I reach my data limit?

Inbound and outbound data count equally. When a VPS reaches its data limit, its speed is restricted. If you need more data, contact us and we'll set up a plan that fits.

Can I move my VPS to another location?

Yes, within the same country, and your IP addresses stay the same. We can't move a VPS between countries.

Do you back up my VPS?

Snapshots are included as a bonus, but they're best effort only and we take no liability for data loss. Keep your own backups of anything important.

Can I run a mail server on my VPS?

No. Mail ports are blocked on every VPS. If you need to run a mail server, dedicated servers have no network filtering.

Can I buy extra IP addresses for my VPS?

Yes, with justification. Extra IP addresses start at $5 per IP per month. If you need more than 5 on a single VPS, contact us first to discuss your requirements.

Can you add a custom ISO to my VPS?

Yes. Request a custom ISO in the VPS control panel and we'll attach it to your VPS.

How do I set reverse DNS for my VPS?

Set it yourself in the VPS control panel, for both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.

Dedicated servers

Do you filter traffic on dedicated servers?

No. Dedicated servers have no network filtering at all, including mail ports, so firewalling is up to you.

How do I get BMC access?

Ask us and we'll provision 24x7 VPN access to your server's BMC interface at no extra charge.

What support is included?

Basic support by ticket and email. If a part fails, we arrange replacements or a spare system as quickly as possible.

Can I get a server that isn't listed?

Yes. We deal in new and refurbished hardware, with suppliers in Australia and the USA, and can source a server for any of our locations. Ask us for a quote.

Colocation

What's the difference between Basic and Premium?

Both include racking and cabling, 2 power feeds, a 1G copper or 10G fibre port, /31 IPv4 and /64 IPv6 allocations, VPN access to your management controller and 20 TB of data. Premium adds 30 minutes of remote hands credit every six months.

Can I visit my server in the datacentre?

No. Your server sits in a shared rack, and there's no customer access to shared racks at all. Our team does every hands-on job for you. Contact us regarding lockable colocation spaces with full access; we do offer it.

Can you supply the server?

Yes. We can advise on hardware and sell you rackmount servers through our supply partners, delivered and pre-configured to the datacentre you choose.

Can I get more than 1RU?

Yes. We can arrange quarter, half and full racks, depending on the location, space and networking you need. Ask us for a quote.
